Training a job candidate with the help of “France Travail”

Training a job candidate with the help of “France Travail”

With the individual operational preparation for employment, employers who wish to recruit a jobseeker can benefit from funding from “France Travail” to train them.

Employers who are experiencing recruitment difficulties due to a lack of candidates with the necessary skills to fill a position in their company can apply to “France Travail” for the benefit of the Operational Preparation for Individual Employment (POEI(1)).

This scheme allows an employer who wishes to recruit a jobseeker to have his or her prior training financed by “France Travail.”

Under what conditions?

To benefit from the POEI, the employer must offer the jobseeker a permanent contract, a fixed-term contract of at least 6 months, a work-study contract (apprenticeship or professionalisation) of at least 6 months or a seasonal contract of at least 4 months. The employment contract can be part-time with a minimum of 20 hours per week.

In addition, the employer must not have made a dismissal for economic reasons in the 12 months preceding the date of the aid application, unless the positions concerned by the dismissal have only a “minor relationship” with the positions facing recruitment difficulties.

Finally, he must be up to date with his social security contributions.

Important: “France Travail” may refuse a POEI to an employer who has already benefited from it and who, without legitimate reason, has not hired the jobseeker at the end of his training.

What training?

Pre-employment training must be completed within a maximum of 6 months.

It can be organized internally, which makes it possible to adapt the skills of the future employee to the specificities of the job. The employer must then define a training plan and appoint a tutor with at least 2 years of experience related to the skills to be acquired. “France Travail” pays the employer an amount of €5 per hour of tutoring (300 hours maximum).

It can also be theoretical training with a training organisation external to the company or, in certain sectors (construction, personal services, industry, business services, trade) on-the-job training (work simulation in the company and continuous evaluation by an external body). In both cases, “France Travail” pays the training organisation directly.
